We’re delighted to announce a new partnership with global engineering and professional services firm WSP, marking an important step forward in strengthening the county’s local economy.

Designed to connect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with major public and private sector buyers, this partnership will create new opportunities for Gloucestershire businesses to engage directly with WSP and its supply chain.

Through the partnership, WSP will use the Together Gloucestershire platform to source local suppliers to assist with delivering their Professional Services Contract for Gloucestershire County Council Highway. Operating in almost 50 countries and across more than 100 sectors and 180 services, WSP brings extensive expertise spanning structural engineering, urban design and planning, transport planning, geotechnical services, cultural heritage and archaeology, and landscape architecture.

WSP is currently delivering a wide range of services for Gloucestershire County Council as part of its Professional Services Contract for highways and infrastructure. Now one year into a four-year contract, the team continues to deliver a diverse portfolio of projects, including active travel schemes, strategic major projects, and wider infrastructure and transport planning initiatives. Much of this work is delivered by local staff co-located at Shire Hall in Gloucester, supported by national teams where additional capacity or specialist expertise is required.

A key focus for WSP is ensuring strong regional delivery, with a target of 80% of work being delivered locally. Subcontractors and local suppliers play a vital role in achieving this ambition, making the partnership with Together Gloucestershire particularly significant.

As part of the collaboration, WSP will host the first Together Gloucestershire Meet the Buyer event on 29 April 2026, from 10am to 3pm at Patch Gloucester. This event will provide Gloucestershire businesses with valuable access to WSP’s procurement team, offering insight into supply chain opportunities and guidance on how to position themselves as trusted delivery partners. WSP is actively seeking to expand its network of local suppliers through this initiative.

All Together Gloucestershire buying partners have committed to increasing their local supply chain sourcing by between 5% and 15%. Collectively, this has the potential to generate up to £500 million of additional spend within the Gloucestershire economy in the coming years, with platform members first in line to benefit.

Adam Vines, co-founder of Together Gloucestershire, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome WSP as a partner and to have them as the first host of our Meet the Buyer event series. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting Gloucestershire businesses and recognising the essential role they play in our local economy. We’re excited to see how WSP uses the platform to streamline its local procurement and to celebrate its work with Gloucestershire-based suppliers.”

Katherine Bright, Manging Director, Local Government Business at WSP added:
“At WSP, we’re always looking for the best ways to resource the work we deliver across industries. From spot purchasing to full tender opportunities, it’s vital that we work with the right partners to maintain the high standards our projects demand. Together Gloucestershire offers a unique opportunity to connect with local businesses, tap into regional skills and expertise, and deliver meaningful social value. We’re looking forward to our Meet the Buyer event and meeting potential new suppliers.”

We look forward to working closely with WSP to explore further opportunities for collaboration, supporting initiatives that enhance wellbeing, strengthen community resilience, and foster local leadership.
