About the project
Together Gloucestershire is made up of 2 working groups and a Steering Group. The purpose of the Steering Group is to set the direction for the project and support the working groups. The two working groups are MSME/SME and the Corporate-Public sector group. These two groups identify the challenges and set in place actions to resolve.
The basic philosophy of the Together Gloucestershire group is one where members are here to engage and get involved, spectating is not an option.

The benefits
There are many challenges to running a business in the current economic climate. Whilst enhancing ESG creds may be seen as a luxury, it won’t be long until not having those creds will stop you from doing business. In some areas the public sectors may be leading the charge, with 10% or more of the scoring for supplier selection being attributed to ESG. However, the drivers are strong:
- Shortening and making more stable/flexible supply chains
- Investing in the local community
- Growing support for your business within the local community
- Differentiating yourself from the competition in an area that is growing in significance
- Giving your employees a strong bond to the business, aiding retention and recruitment
Additionally, developing your procurement footprint locally:
- Enables you to successfully bid for work in the public sector, as the new ESG framework puts greater emphasis on local procurement – Improving Sustainability in Central Government – ESG Considerations – BDO
- Aligns your business with the UN Sustainable Development Goals – United Nations Sustainable Development – that are increasingly being adopted by investors and stakeholders as the gold standard for any business

Peter Allison
The Together Gloucestershire project offers a solution that I believe is missing ,not just in the county but the whole of the UK. The Gloucestershire Business Show has always supported local business and this is the next logical step for improving the circular economy in the county.

Mike Cameron-Davies
Having worked for many large corporates, I now have a desire to help smaller businesses be the best they can be, and Together Gloucestershire is great vehicle to enable me to use my experience and skills to do just that. It also enables me to channel my passion for the environment and building community.

Qing Lin
Qing is an international trade expert helping to put Gloucestershire on the map for over a decade. However, she is passionate about using local suppliers whenever possible.

Dominique Gregory
Working for Gloucestershire NHS in procurement, and as a Gloucestershire resident, the success of Gloucestershire and its businesses is incredibly important to me both professionally and personally. We need to build on what Gloucestershire businesses already have to cement Gloucestershire as a hub of skills, entrepreneurship and business. The work with Together Gloucestershire is an integral part of that future and something I am delighted to play a part in.
